St. Augustine Bars: Lincolnville
Founded after the Civil War by freed African Americans and central to the city's civil rights history, with the Victorian houses of Bridge Street and, along Riberia Street, the old ice plant and the marinas on the San Sebastian River.
A Lincolnville brewery since October 2017, brewing German-style hefeweizen and maibock alongside fruited sours and West Coast IPA. The taproom runs 5,000 square feet with a maple bar, shuffleboard and darts, and with A1A Ale Works and Ancient City Brewing both closed, it is one of the few working breweries near downtown.
A cocktail bar in the 1927 ice plant building, with the original crane still on its rails over the bar and a 300-pound block of ice behind it. Fresh-pressed juices and house syrups at the bar, grass-fed burgers and local seafood from the kitchen, no reservations, and open until 2 a.m. on weekends.
Founded by 20 local families in the 1907 FP&L ice plant, the first in Florida to make commercial block ice, where the old ice-can numbers are still visible on the rails during the tour. Bourbon, rum, gin and vodka, with tours and tastings seven days a week.
